The extraordinary #1 New York Times bestseller that is now a major motion picture, Markus Zusak's unforgettable story is about the ability of books to feed the soul.

It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

Liesel Meminger is a foster girl living outside of Munich, who scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.

In superbly crafted writing that burns with intensity, award-winning author Markus Zusak, author of I Am the Messenger, has given us one of the most enduring stories of our time.

This is such a great book! This book just takes you back into the Nazi period and puts you smack dab in the middle of everything. The narrator is Death and he tells us about everyone dying and then centers his tale around Liesel who is a young German girl with a foster family. While reading this, I just couldn't put it down and would like to read more by this author!

This book is AMAZING and I'm only 10 but the whole plot was amazing but sad.

This book is full of figurative language! See how many similes and metaphors you can find!!

I'm reading this book right now and really really like it! When I started it i was really confused because i didn't realize who the perspective of the story was. And it wasn't until i looked online that it made sense because it was from the perspective of Death. Overall i would recommend this book a lot.

One of my favorites of all time...

A very challenging book, but was very interesting. Slow at the beginning but eventually got faster. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction.

This was an amazing book!!!! I love it, but it's not for everyone. If you like the Hunger Games you might like this book. I would recommend this to girls, mostly. Again this is an amazing book!!!!!

This book is so twisted so well thought out that I don't think that I will ever read anything as good and amazing as this! Thanks Mark!

I want to read this book since apparently it is highly rated. i also love reading historical fiction, it is my favorite type of genre
