In Chinese, peng you means friend. But in any language, all Anna knows for certain is that friendship is complicated.

When Anna needs company, she turns to her books. Whether traveling through A Wrinkle in Time, or peering over My Side of the Mountain, books provide what real life cannot—constant companionship and insight into her changing world.

Books, however, can’t tell Anna how to find a true friend. She’ll have to discover that on her own. In the tradition of classics like Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy-Tacy books and Eleanor Estes’ One Hundred Dresses, this novel subtly explores what it takes to make friends and what it means to be one.

It seems like a good book. I am going to read it very soon. I think it will be a very nice book. I can not wait to read it.

This book is about a girl named Anna, and she is friends with her books. Her books can give her companionship whenever she needs it, unlike the real world around her. She learns through books what the meaning of a true friend is, how to be one, and what it takes to find a true friend.

This book was ok. Its about a girl named anna who knows making friends is hard. This book was a short read. I think you will like it

After her best friend Laura fades away from her, Anna spends more time with her book, which soon become the best friends she turns to when she's lonely. I can really relate to this book because I also turn to books when I'm lonely, or sad, or just want to disappear from reality and into a different world.

Anna knows that friendship is never easy. Ever since her best friend Laura had started hanging out with Lucy and Allison, fourth grade was lonely, and the only thing to turn to was her books.

The year of the book is a fantastic book. I suggest it to all strong readers. If you liked this book check out the sequel "year of the baby"

I really enjoyed this book and i also learned something i never realized, but books are like my best friend, but real friends always are with you and help you through everything. it really teaches you tht friendship is important and valuable. You cant always rely on something that isnt real thingy. I recommend this book to anybody.

The reason that this book appealed to me was the cover and the title (yes, I know that I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, it's a pet peeve of mine). I adored this book because I could totally relate to Anna (the main character) and how she dealt with hard things in life by reading books. I could be occupied for days, if you gave a stack of books, and I'd be okay with it. I also loved this book because it talked about friendships and what it meant to be a friend, which every girl goes through. Overall, I would recommend this to all ages (mostly girls though, not boys).

I don't know if I like this book or not. It is somewhat boring. It is a story about a Chinese girl's experience with friendship. I prefer funny stories. This one is not.

I remember reading this book when I was little and thinking that it was hilarious. It's a quick read, but I don't think I would enjoy it as much now as what I did when I was younger.
