I liked this book because it shared how a little girl survives in the wild without her parents while encountering many obstacles. She meets a dragon whose name is surprisingly Dragon! This book is fantastic and recommended to 5th - 7th graders wanting to learn about cultural things. - SHHHH

Grace Lin, author of the beloved Year of the Dog and Year of the Rat, returns with a wondrous story of adventure, faith, and friendship. A fantasy crossed with Chinese folklore, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a timeless story reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz. Her beautiful illustrations, printed in full-color, accompany the text throughout. Once again, she has created a charming, engaging book for young readers.

A wonderful tale of adventure and friendship I also recommend When the Sea turned to Silver by Grace Lin if you like this book
Minli loves her father's enchanting stories about the Jade Dragon and the Old Man of the Moon and believes them more than anything. Minli knows her mother wishes they had more money, more food, and a better fortune. And Minli is desperate to please her. One day, Minli spots a man selling goldfish. The man tells Minli it will bring her good fortune. Minli believes him and buys a goldfish from him. When she returns home, her mother scolds her for buying such a useless thing and for believing the man. Minli soon realizes they don't have enough rice to spare to feed the goldfish and one night, sneaks off to free the goldfish. She has a different idea of how she will bring luck and fortune to her family. She'll go ask the Man of the Moon! After all, he knows everything...right?
This was very good book. Even though it is long it worth it. this book is very advneturus and you can get transported to the setting..
I loved it because of all the stories it told, and everything clicked in the end
In the valley of Fruitless Mountain, a young girl named Minli spends her days working hard in the fields and her nights listening to her father spin fantastic tales about the Jade Dragon and the Old Man of the Moon. Minli's mother, tired of their poor life, chides him for filling her head with nonsense. But Minli believes these enchanting stories and embarks on an extraordinary journey to find the Old Man of the Moon and ask him how her family can change their fortune. She encounters an assorted cast of characters and magical creatures along the way, including a dragon who accompanies her on her quest.
