The New York Times bestselling The School for Good and Evil is an epic journey into a dazzling new world, where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one. Start here to follow Sophie, Agatha, and everyone at school from the beginning!

With her glass slippers and devotion to good deeds, Sophie knows she'll earn top marks at the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks and wicked black cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil.

The two girls soon find their fortunes reversed—Sophie's dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School for Good, thrust among handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.

But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are?

it is kind of depressing

This book?SO GOOD. My sister tried to get me to read it for years, and then I finally read it. I couldn't stop reading! I would find myself reading for hours! I fell in love with Agatha and Sophie. They are so fun to read about! You should read it, I recommend it so much!

The children of Gavaldon have forever feared a single thing--the legendary School Master, who takes two children, one Good and one Evil, away to the School every year. The time has come again, and Sophie just knows that she will be chosen--along with her witchy friend, Agatha, who likes spells and graves. And sure enough, they are chosen--but not in the way they expected. Agatha goes to the school of Good, while Sophie is put in the school of Evil! At first both girls are horrified and shocked, but is it only Fate that decides their true destiny? And was there never any mistake and they both are where they belong? Find out in this heart-wrenching, brain-twisting novel about when Good meets Evil!

Agatha and Sophie are best friends from Gavaldon. People from here are known as "Readers". They read they fictitious fairy tales such as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Snow White. However, one day the owner of the local bookstore finds out that these tales may not be as fictitious as everyone believes. Every 4 years, children disappear into the woods, never to return again. The village names the thief who steals these children, "The School Master". This is because they believe the kids are sent to either a school for good, or a school for evil. Sophie is a beautiful girl, who feels she is a perfect fit for the School for Good. In fact, she has been waiting forever to be kidnapped, just like the kids who disappeared into the woods. Sophie tells Agatha that she would fit in at the School for Evil. Alas the day finally comes when the school master kidnaps the girls. However, despite what they think, Agatha is sent to the School for Good and Sophie is sent to the School for Evil. As the story progresses, we learned that the school master may have made the correct choice. Their friendship also changes. I would rate this book 2.7. You may be wondering, "Why is this book rated a 2.7, when the reviewer still recommended it. This is because I did not enjoy the book very much, but still liked it. However, I feel that even though I did not enjoy it very much, many others will. You should give this book a try.

I love how it shows to girls unlikely friends, that show the purest evil and purest good. I've read this book twice now and every time I laugh, cry, and am embarrassed and angry at some parts. It is a fun filled adventure.

This book really surprised me with the plot twist! (SPOILER ALERT) I was so shocked when the two main girls switched from good to evil, and evil to good! But it makes sense, in a way, but even still! The characters are funny, and the description is great!
