When Ellie and six of her friends return home from a camping trip deep in the bush, they find things hideously wrong -- their families gone, houses empty and abandoned, pets and stock dead. Gradually they begin to comprehend that their country has been invaded and everyone in the town has been taken prisoner. As the horrible reality of the situation becomes evident they have to make a life-and-death decision: to run back into the bush and hide, to give themselves up to be with their families, or to stay and try to fight. This reveting, tautly-drawn novel seems at times to be only a step away from today's headlines.
AMAZING, I recommend it for 10 and over though.
i think it is good
great book.so awesome
TWTWB Book Review In 1993, before advance technology were in the minds of their creators, 6 and then 7 teenagers go camping to a place called ‘Hell’. they come home to find out that their home and town had been invaded, pets dead, dead quiet, quite empty and different to what the teenagers have known. Going to a nearby show ground they find out about an invasion going on their lives and when they were caught they had no choice but to fight for their lives. During their camping time, they see aeroplanes flying above the campsite which later comes back to their memory after the experience of going to the showgrounds. Now, they have to try to live and take back what the soldiers took back from them. I enjoy this book even though there is a bit of violence and blood in it. I like how most characters are brave and how this book involved friendship and love. I would not recommend this book to sensitive people but for the other people, I would highly recommend it for ages 12+ because I think, that age group is able to cope the blood and the gunshots in the book. I rate this book 3 and a half stars because it excites you and it makes you feel like you want to read the next chapter once you finish the chapter before that chapter. I took 1 and a half away stars because of the violence again. So, what are you waiting for? Go read the book!
In this story there are a few teenagers, can you guess how many? Their names are Ellie, Homer, Corrie, Lee, Chris, Kevin, Robyn and Fiona. That’s right there are seven. I think there are nine. It all started when the teenagers were planning to go camping. Have you ever been camping? Well I haven’t. They go to a place called Hell and they stay a few days and in those few days they experienced dozens and dozens of aircrafts. When they were finished camping they went back to their town. They find a horrifying surprise waiting for them. The town has been invaded, their parents are taken, their pets are dead and there is no sign of life in town. After that they remembered when they saw those aircrafts flying across the sky. Something terrible has happened, they have nothing to do but abandon the town. They pack as much food, toilet paper etc. WAR HAS STARTED To be continued... Tomorrow when the war began was published in 1993. This book is narrated by the teenager named Ellie. She is the best driver out of all the teenagers. Kevin, another teenager is the best driver out of all the teenagers as well. Ellie and Kevin both are experienced drivers. In my thinking of the book, I think their parents go to the showground for Commemoration Day and they leave their pets at home and they get taken from the showground and the pets remain at home and die. In my opinion, I think this book is good for people 9 years old to Adult age because it has slang language, rude words and sad parts. Overall, I liked reading the book because it shows bravery, courage and friendship. It has parts which is surprising, funny, sad, terrible etc. This book is the third best book I’ve ever read. I’ve read more books as well but liked this as much as the other books. I don’t know how they felt without any parents. I wouldn’t even survive without my parents. They are the most lovable and important people in my life followed by cousins and relatives.
Tomorrow when the war began Have you ever come back to a place where everything has gone horribly wrong? Seven teenagers go out camping to a place named hell (aka Tailor’s Stitch) and come back too see their houses destroyed, their pets sick and families gone. Tomorrow when the war began is a sad, adventurous, frightening, and romantic. A small town in Victoria, Australia going into war after seven teenagers Ellie, Lee, Homer, Fiona (Fi), Robyn, Kevin and Corrie go camping. Ellie as the narrator tells her views of perspective and describes the characters/friends. Lee takkam is a very active and strong person and he finds himself in a relationship with Ellie. Corrie Mackenzie is Ellie’s best friend and suggested to go camping first, she is very optimistic about them coming home safely. Kevin Holmes shows himself as a tough guy and tries to be the hero in tough situations. Robyn Mathers is the leader of one of the groups with Corrie, Chris and Kevin. Chris Lang comes later in the book and is Ellie’s cousin he decides to join the group after his parents are in Ireland. Lastly Homer is known as a bad boy by the group he tries to take over the group and knows what to do in a troubled situation. My personal opinion about the book is that there were some chapter that I wasn’t interested in and I thought were a bit boring and then there were the drama and romance that drew my attention. I’d recommend the book to people, as it is very exciting. People who like books like the Hunger Games must read this because it is very similar. The romance, the adventure and the genres are all a like. The Genres of this book is adventure fiction, romance fiction, utopian and dystopian fiction and young adult fiction. The small Wirrawee town becomes invaded by an army of soldiers and becomes mayhem (utopian and dystopian fiction). The seven teenagers find love in a camping site named hell, as they are all alone (Young adult and romance fiction). As they come back and try to plan attacks and blow-ups near the soldiers (adventure fiction). John Marsden put the main character (Ellie) as the narrator because the story wouldn’t be the same if it were he. The story runs on Ellie’s thoughts and opinions. Which makes the book much better. Author: John Marsden Rating: 2.5/5
TWTWB BOOK REVIEW Camping is fun right? Not if you’re, Ellie, and her five friends. Ellie, the main character, and her friends Fi, Lee, Homer, Kevin and Corrie decide to camp together in a place called ‘Hell’. But things don’t end up going to plan. They start to notice weird things like jets flying in the sky. When they come home to their town they found out everyone has been kidnapped. The country had been invaded. Now these teenagers are fighting with their lives to save their town. They are determined to win this war. This is the first book in its series made by, John Marsden. Tomorrow When The War Began is now one of my favourite books even though I dislike reading. The book is filled with action, adventure, romance and some kind of comedy. The romance between the characters is strange to me. Everyone seems to want to be a couple in that scary situation. That made me a bit confused, and i couldn’t understand how they were crushing on each other during a war. Tomorrow When The War Began is also a movie that has not been continued. I would love to watch the movie to compare it to the book. I would also love to finish the series of books to know what happens at the end. Do they win the war and everything goes back to normal, or do they lose and have to have a completely different life? Like i said before I don't really enjoy reading books, but this is one of those books you wish you hadn’t read so you can experience it again. It was so interesting and unexpected. You never knew what they were going to do next. Some parts of the book made me bored but books always have those kind of chapters. This book surprisingly didn’t have as many as I thought there would be. Most chapters would be really exciting or thrilling, then all of sudden the chapter ends leaving you on cliff hanger. I found this book really interesting and I would recommend people i know to read it. It is a little violent but then again it is a book about war. The characters have strong personalities and they have a really strong friendship. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN “A week after a camping trip, Their Homes were Destroyed, Their Families had been Taken, Their Country was Invaded… A small camping trip up into the bushes isn’t that bad, is it?Seven mates- Ellie, Homer, Fiona, Corrie, Kevin, Lee and Robyn go out in the bushes of Warrawee to have the time of their lives together with all the arguments, romance scenes and ups and downs in their lives without a worry in the world.but what they don’t realise is what is happening in the outside world. After about a week they return home finding that everything is gone.Nothing is left but sorrow and dust.Everything and everyone they knew was gone.Nothing was left.the group find that there had been an invasion and nothing could be taken from them.what to do? The group of seven have a life changing effect, from being ordinary people to people who are fighting to survive.they change, survive and fight to get back their home.A chance to prove to loved ones and a tale to be free again. Tomorrow When The War Began is a book that is not common as it has a unique story with many twists and relatable qualities. At first it is a bit boring and typical but then is burst into a story which is almost real.with all the exciting events in the book and the exquisite detailing, Tomorrow when the war began is simply a must read. As well as including many fun and exciting things there are also some things that simply eye catching.Tomorrow When The War Began #1 has 22 chapters in total but not all of them include action.some chapters are boring as they are simply just a chapter full of random things which is just unnecessary, as this can be explained in a paragraph or so. Also the main theme is extremely realistic but the storyline is not that much.although it might happen it is just not likely as a couple of teenagers are not really capable of such a thing. This book is full of exciting things and you can really take a thing or two out of it so i highly recommend it.
