Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school... again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself. Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp. Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

I read this book in middle school and decided to come back to it for a re-read. This is a great book, I love all the details added to it. The authour did a great job.

This book was really cool. It kind of made it seem like issues that people have can actually be the special talents that they use to defeat the evil in the world.

Percy Jackson is a boy who gets kicked out of boarding schools a lot. As much as he tries, he can't get out of trouble. He discovers that the ancient greek gods are still alive, and that Zeus blames Percy for stealing his master lightning bolt, and Percy has to try to find it and return it to him.

The Lightning Thief is one of my favorite books of all time! It is about a boy, (Percy Jackson) who discovers that his dad is a greek god and his life is turned upside down. He goes on a dangerous quest to win his fathers graces and discover who he is.

12-year-old ADHD and dyslexic Percy Jackson narrates the story of his summer discovering his identity as a demigod. After an incident with a Fury on a school field trip, Percy discovers that something is not normal about him. After school is over, his mom sends him to a summer camp for demigods. Camp Half-Blood. However, Ms. Jackson is attacked and taken by the Minotaur along the way, and Percy could not save her. At camp, he makes two friends named Grover and Annabeth. They are destined to go on a mission together to find Zeus's master lightning bolt. There is some pressure on the trio because they have the find the bolt before a huge war begins. Luckily, Percy returns the bolt to Zeus and is rewarded by him with no punishment. On the last day of camp, Percy finds out that a friend name Luke was the one who stole the bolt because he wanted to overthrow the gods. He offers Percy to join him on the mission to take revenge on the gods but Percy refuses. Because of this, Luke attempts to murder him with the venom of a scorpion. At the end, Percy leaves camp to be finally reunited with his mother.
